Breathtaking and beautiful, the Greek island of Santorini is one of the most sought out destination wedding locations in the world. So, Liz decided she wanted to see what this high praise was about. She went on a week long adventure to explore the best venues all throughout the island, and this is what she thought.
The village of Oia is known for its famous blue rooftops, and is perched on the volcanic cliffs most north on the island. With an unobstructed view to the west, its the perfect place for those sunset photos. Here, we found an amazing restaurant for you to enjoy. There are many excellent places to eat and take photos in this area, but our favorite venues were in Imerovigli.
At the highest point of the island is Imerovigli, which of course has the most amazing scenic views. You will get just as good sunset views as Oia, but more of a peaceful atmosphere as this village is mostly residential. We found many of our favorite venues in this area. The views that these venues provide are unbeatable, with a variety of venue options for different group sizes. One of these venues also has a yacht option for smaller groups to host their event on. Whether you want to elopement, have a small party with no kids, or go all out and invite a large group, Liz has an excellent selection.
Of course you have the iconic captial, Fira. There is much to find here and is easy for guests to travel to, with little hassle. You will land by plane near Fira, or if you go by boat, will be dropped off right there. There are many excellent places to eat in this area, so we have options for different dinners you may want to host.
Further south on the island is Megalochori, which is a picturesque village that shows off traditional Greek architecture. This area is a hidden gem, that definitely will allow you more privacy. One of our favorite venues was here, where we met with the owner, who is also a patisserie. This venue is romantic and has all the accommodations for a wedding. They have two stunning terraces to choose from, and an overnight villa available for couples. If you also are planning a last minute elopement, they accept those 60 days in advance, so please reach out if this is something you are interested in!
We adore this corner of the world, and cannot wait to plan many future events here. If you are interested in a wedding in Santorini, WeddingBliz is here to help!
